Catapult Dance Choreographic Hub and PACT Centre for Emerging Artists present: Double Bill with Lacey Bilger and Hugo Poulet. The evening features Low Level by Lacey Bilger and the world premiere of Orbital by Hugo Poulet. Don’t miss out on two exhilarating new dance works by up-and-coming choreographers, bringing the voices of a fresh new generation of dance makers.
Low Level by First Nation’s emerging choreographer Lacey Bilger “tells the story of me embodying my totem the Goanna, travelling mother country. The search for mother was desperate, in hope for a new beginning in a life of relocation, peace and home. You will witness the annihilation of the tree, bulldozed over, fires set around me, and the tumultuous emotional state I endure.” Lacey Bilger is a Proud Kalkadoon woman, Born on Wiradjuri, grew up on Darkinjung Land.
Orbital by Hugo Poulet, a brand new choreographic work performed by Emily Eather, Lorcan Power and Hugo Poulet, follows the rite of rituals that entrance us into heightened states of being, riding the flow of experience. Three performers become metaphors for life, giving and receiving, being held and offering support. The many layers and cycles that continually weave through each other, ultimately constituting ‘time’. How do we experience the unfolding together? Birth, death and becoming. We all share the conditions of life, bound by the structures that rule us.
